Private label sportswear manufacturing is OEM production plus an identity system: the customer should meet your brand, not a generic factory neck mark.
What private label means in practice
You decide fabric, fit, colour and decoration. You also decide what is printed or woven at the neck, what hangs from the garment, and what the bag looks like when it is opened. Abijah Sports executes that system in Sialkot. We do not put our name in your collar on a private label run.
If you only need garments without a brand universe, you may be describing OEM teamwear. The distinction is unpacked in OEM versus private label. Both models are available; they need different checklists.
The trim pack is the product
Founders obsess over the hoodie fleece and forget the care label. Retailers do the opposite on the day of receiving. A complete pack includes fibre-accurate care copy, size identity, and a hang tag that states the name you actually sell. See custom labels and packaging and the private label service page.
Copy on a label is a claim. If the fabric changes, the label must change. We would rather delay a woven label than print “100% polyester” on a blend you later swap.
Start with a short SKU list
A gym short, a training tee and a hoodie will teach you fit, shrink and photography. A 40-SKU launch will teach you cash-flow pain. Share a colour story across those three so the line looks intentional on a grid.
Categories that launch cleanly: activewear, MMA wear, and basics. Add jackets when you can wait on hardware sampling.
Risks first-time brands underestimate
Opacity in light leggings. Odour in polyester if customers wash poorly — set care expectations. Size returns if you invent a vanity chart. Photography that uses a different colour temperature than the real garment. None of these is the factory “cheating”; they are development topics.
MOQ and sampling cost are quoted for the program you actually run. Contact Abijah Sports for the current path rather than treating a blog as a price list.
When the SKU list is on one page, send it via Get a Quote.
What a tech pack can look like when you do not have one
You do not need fashion-school software to start. A table with columns for style name, fabric, GSM target, decoration, sizes, and pack type is a tech pack. Add photos of front, back and a close-up of a label you like. Add measurement points if you have a garment that already fits your customer. Abijah Sports can turn that table into a sample path.
What you should not do is send twenty Pinterest images with no decision. Inspiration is useful after you have chosen a silhouette. Before that, it is noise.
Colour and dye lots
A brand that launches in one core colour and one accent colour can reorder with less drama than a brand that launches in nine pastels. Dye lots move. If your customer expects an exact match between a short bought in March and a tee bought in November, you need a standard and a willingness to approve lab dips or keep-stock fabric. That is part of being a brand, not a hidden factory failure.
Photography, size charts and returns
Photograph the approved sample, not a different garment from a stock site. Publish a size chart that matches the chart you signed. If you vanity-size, own it in the copy. Returns on compression and tights are often an opacity or size problem, not a “bad factory” problem. Design those SKUs with returns in mind or do not launch them first.
Retail buyers will ask about packing assortment. Be ready to say how many of each size sit in a carton. That conversation belongs with labels and packaging.
When the table has three rows that you believe in, send it. We will tell you what must be sampled and what can share a block. We will not flatter a 30-SKU launch that has no cash behind it.
Label copy you should draft before you weave anything
Write the brand name as it must appear. Write fibre content you believe is true. Write care that matches how you will photograph the wash story. Write a size system you will not change in three months. Then stop. Extra poetry on a care label does not sell a hoodie. Incorrect fibre names can create the kind of problem poetry cannot fix.
If you sell in more than one market, draft the strictest honest version you can support. Do not invent certifications on a hang tag. This website does not show certificates we cannot produce; your hang tag should follow the same rule.
Send the draft with the SKU table. We will tell you what must wait for a woven lead time and what can start on a printed neck label for a first drop.
Questions
No. Many first lines are two or three garments. The discipline is the same: spec, sample, labels, bulk.
Trademark strategy is legal advice we do not give. Do not print a mark you cannot defend or license.
Discuss storage and reorders with the desk. Do not assume unlimited inventory of trims.
