HOW TO START YOUR OWN SPORTSWEAR BRAND

Starting a sportswear brand is a manufacturing project attached to a sales project. Treat either half as a hobby and the carton will teach you the rest.

Pick an offer narrower than your ambition

“We will do all sports” is not an offer. “Women’s training tights and a matching crop for gym retailers in one climate” is an offer. “Club soccer kits for academies that want private label extras” is an offer. Narrowness is how you write a spec and how you photograph a lookbook.

Write the wearer, the use, and the three garments that must exist. Everything else is a sequel. Abijah Sports can manufacture wider later; your first invoice should not require a warehouse you do not have.

Turn the offer into a spec

Fibre, construction, GSM target, size set, decoration, labels, bag. If you cannot fill those fields, you are not ready to compare factories — you are still designing. Use our GSM guide and private label page as checklists, not as decoration.

Legal marks: do not send a crest you cannot use. We will manufacture the file you approve; we are not your trademark counsel.

Sample, cash and the first carton

Budget for development, for the bulk, for freight, for returns, and for photography. A beautiful sample that you cannot afford to repeat is a souvenir. Contact our team for the current sampling path and MOQ on your category; this article will not invent numbers.

Sell before you multiply colours if you can. Preorders and club commitments are not glamorous. They prevent a garage full of extra-small hoodies.

Choose a manufacturer you can reorder from

The second order is the real test: same collar, same shade, same measurement. Choose a desk that writes things down. How to choose a manufacturer is the longer version of that advice.

Sialkot is a rational place to make the first carton if you want cut-and-sew plus decoration in one conversation. Read why Sialkot is known for sportswear, then send a three-SKU brief to Abijah Sports.

The unglamorous work that happens before a logo animation

Open a spreadsheet. Name the customer. Name the three garments. Name the price band you can defend after freight and returns. If you cannot name a price band, you are not starting a brand. You are collecting inspiration. Inspiration is allowed. It is not a launch.

Talk to five people who would buy the garment and ask what they hate about what they wear now. You are listening for fabric and fit complaints, not for compliments on your mood board. Those complaints become the spec.

Operations you must own even if a factory sews

You own the size chart you publish. You own the care claims. You own the photos. You own the reply when a short arrives and the customer expected a tight. A manufacturer can hold a spec. A manufacturer cannot run your inbox.

If you plan marketplaces, learn their label rules before you weave a neck label. If you plan wholesale, learn how a buyer expects a carton to look. Those rules belong in the first trim conversation. See packaging.

A 90-day sequence that stays honest

Days 1–14: offer and spec. Days 15–45: sample and revision. Days 46–60: photos, size chart, and a small sales test if you can. Days 61–90: bulk decision. If a step slips, slip the launch. Shipping a wrong first carton to “hit a date” is how brands start with refunds instead of reorders.

Abijah Sports can sit inside that sequence as the manufacturing desk. We will not pretend we are your marketing department. We will tell you when a SKU is not ready. That is the partnership worth having.

When the spreadsheet has three real rows, send it to Get a Quote or WhatsApp +92 331 4615573.

What “ready to manufacture” looks like

You are ready when you can name the wearer, the three garments, a price band after freight, and a size chart you are willing to publish. You are not ready when you only have a logo and a wish to “do what the big brands do.” Big brands have returns departments and fabric teams. You have a spreadsheet and a factory desk. Use both honestly.

You are also ready when you can accept a “no” on a method or a fabric. If every pushback feels like an insult, you will keep shopping until someone tells you yes and then ships you a problem. The manufacturer worth keeping is the one that refuses a bad combination.

When those conditions are true, Abijah Sports can start a sample path. WhatsApp +92 331 4615573 or the quote form is enough. Bring the spreadsheet, not the slogan.

Questions

You need a way to take money and explain the product. It does not have to be elaborate. The garment still needs a spec.

Fewer than you want. Two colourways teach you demand without multiplying dead stock.

We develop production artwork and mockups. Brand naming and marketing strategy stay with you.
